Exhibits: Sci-Bono Discovery Centre has a growing collection of interactive science and technology exhibits that allow visitors to engage with concepts in a hands-on experiential way that supports cognitive development. The exhibits directly assist in developing positive attitudes towards Science, Engineering and Technology. A significant number of the exhibits are designed to be mobile so that they can be set up in schools, libraries and community centres in order to service poorer communities that struggle to access the centre. Science shows: see what wonders you can do with the normal stuff you find in your kitchen. Let our scientists show you how.
Construction site: Come build a house in the Murray and Roberts “Building Africa” construction exhibit. Birthday parties: Celebrate your birthday at Sci-Bono and have a science show hosted for you and your friends. You will also get a guided tour of the centre. Speak to a scientist: This monthly networking evening science café on topical science issues is designed to let people participate in an informal, lively discussion with experts while they network with like-minded people. National Science Week: This draws about 15 000 visitors annually and provides a diverse programme of events and activities. Focus weeks: Sci-Bono runs week-long programmes focusing on selected sectors of South African industry, such as ICT, financial services, health, aviation, engineering, etc. to raise awareness of how modern science and technology is used in these fields and career opportunities in the sector. |
